This morning, brothers and pledges attended volunteer training at FedEx Field. We will be back on November 20, to volunteer at the Redskins v. Cowboys game!
As part of the volunteer training today, brothers and pledges got a private tour of the stadium!

The brothers of Lambda Nu recently attended a DC United game with George Washington University’s AKPsi chapter, Beta Mu. The game was a lot of fun and we enjoyed meeting the brothers from GW. We can’t wait to have more events with them soon!

Brothers and Pledges alike had an excellent time during Big Little Week! Was each pledge able to figure out their big, or were the bigs extremely tricky? Check out the Big/Little pairings below!

The new Beta Mu pledge class and the brothers of Lambda Nu had an excellent time going laser tagging. Our group was split up into three teams: brothers, pledges, and a brothers/pledges team. Everyone was gunning for the win, but the brothers/pledges combo team came out on top!
Laser tag also occurred while the friendly brotherhood game of assassins was going on. Brothers show up to laser tag in Halloween costumes and suits so as not to get “killed.” See pictures below!

The Lambda Nu chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi put on a very successful Fall 2011 Rush! Throughout the week of rush, the brothers of Alpha Kappa Psi had the pleasure of meeting many rushee’s and telling them all about AKPsi! We now have a wonderful new pledge class, welcome Beta Mu!
A big “Thank you!” goes out to Emily Pansa (VP of Marketing), Nora Nezamuddin (VP of Membership), and Ellen Tripodi (Rush Chair) for all of the hard work and dedication they put into making rush so fantastic!
Check out some pictures from Rush!:

The first few weeks of classes have already flown by and the brothers of Alpha Kappa Psi have wasted no time creating fun brotherhood events!
Abroad Brother / New Brother Picnic
A big thank you goes out to Miriam Coates for organizing the Abroad Brother / New Brother picnic! It was great seeing all of the abroad brothers and new brothers connect with each other!

Brotherhood Retreat — White Water Rafting!
Saturday, September 10 was the AKPsi Brotherhood retreat! We went white water rafting at River and Trail Outfitters near Harpers Ferry, VA.
Fun fact: we rafted 6 miles on two rivers (the Shenandoah and Potomac) through three different states (Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia). Some of us were even lucky enough to join the Shenandoah and/or Potomac “Swim Team” (the fair few of us who fell off the rafts)!

This week was also the first week of Rush, which was a huge success. Look out for a post on that soon!

Fall 2011 RUSH starts Monday, September 5! Join our Facebook group for more info.
We participated in #JobHuntChat on Twitter and got some great advice! Recruiters, professionals and job seekers attend the Q&A weekly chat (Mondays 10-11 p.m. EST) moderated by @Blogging4Jobs and @CornOnTheJob.

Recently, Lambda Nu President, Sari Carter; VP of Administration, Stephanie Sawyer; and Historian, Emily Richardson attended the Alpha Kappa Psi Convention in Phoenix, Arizona. The Convention was a blast! The kickoff event came complete with dancing, mechanical bull riding (our very own, Stephanie Sawyer rode the bull!), and the beginning of four days of brotherhood bonding.

Over the four days at the Convention, we attended many events including committee meetings, Chapter Congress, a Celebration of Brotherhood ritual, the College of Leadership seminars (where we learned how to improve our chapter), an awards luncheon, and the Grand Banquet on the final night of the Convention. We even had some time to relax by the pool!
At the awards luncheon, the Lambda Nu chapter won Circle of Achievement award for initiating at least 40 Brothers during the 2010-2011 school year!

Overall, we had an excellent time at Convention, learned a lot, and met many great brothers from all over the world! I cant wait to see everything we learned be put into practice for the fall semester!
