Take a look at the BIG things that our Brothers at the newly chartered Psi Sigma chapter of AKPsi at UNC Greensboro ! We love seeing our Brothers across the country flourishing!
From AKPsi.com: “Alpha Kappa Psi is pleased to announce the chart ering of the Psi Sigma Chapter at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. On February 20, Mideast Regional Director Michael G. Dickerson CFV, Virginia Tech ‘04-Life, proudly served as Chief Installing Officer where 32 brothers were initiated into the Mideast Region’s 26th active collegiate chapter.”
This is me (left center) and a small portion of my brotherhood during a community service event that I coordinated for a local women’s hospital in the area. The event, to say it simply, was a fail (which obviously isn’t evident by the smiles in the picture). Community service chair is a lot harder than I had anticipated for myself this semester and not having brothers who fully support your events is even harder. Our chapter really has to work on unity and it’s a hardship to be a part of something that you’re so dedicated to, while everyone else just views it as an option. Back in the Spring, I was a wide-eyed and excited newly-inducted brother who couldn’t wait for what the Fall would bring (rush week, formals, service, social/professional events, recruitment, ect.), but it’s taken over my life—and not in a good way. I look at the spirit that so many of my brothers have regarding our fraternity, but I also see a nonchalant spirit exhibited in so many others that makes the frustration I feel every other week, unbearable. I see so clearly the direction in which I want our brotherhood to go on our campus and the strong legacy that I pray will be left behind once I graduate, but unless more passionate leaders step up to the plate, those things won’t come into fruition.
We have had a pretty successful rush week this week and I’m already excited about who could potentially be the new faces of the Beta pledge class. Here’s to strengthening our chapter, establishing tradition, and making our mark!
